Take care of your board! Every boarder should have a tune kit. It's one of the easiest things you can do to keep your board like new. A tuned snowboard turns and glides easier which gives you more control. This is important at any level. It's also a great item to bring along on your trip for touching up those little burrs and gouges made by unseen obstacles.
How often should you tune? It really depends upon conditions but a good tune can last from 5-10 days. If conditions are hard packed and icy, bottoms will need attention sooner. If conditions are perfect, the edges won't dull as quickly and will last longer. The only thing you can't do yourself is stone grind the bottom. For stone grinding, you should bring your board to a shop. The cost for this is about $20.00 and should be done about every 30 days of boarding.
This basic tune kit is for all boarders and comes with just about everything to get started. The kit includes a file and hand holder, a file cleaner, 2 base repair sticks (1 clear & 1 black), a metal scraper, a 10" plastic scraper, a pocket stone, a base polishing pad, 2 file guides and a package of universal wax. Everything comes in a carrying case to store or take with you on a trip. A set of basic instructions are included to help you along.
Tune your board once, and the tune-kit pays for itself! If items were purchase separately, it would cost you over $69.00!
