If you use a metal scraper to remove your excess wax, you'll also remove base material. A plastic scraper will remove only the wax and not base material. This is why a plastic scraper is prefered to remove wax.
This Swix high impact acrylic scraper is the perfect for skis and snowboards and will give you all the leverage you need to scrape the excess wax. Many plastic scrapers are thin and flexible which make it difficult to scrape the excess wax from your base. This Swix acrylic scraper has very little flex which will make it easy to remove the excess wax. Actual size: 5" x 2 1/4"
Tuning hint: Keep your metal and plastic scrapers sharp by filing the edges after each tune. The edge of your scrapers will dull after a few uses and a sharp edge will allow you to scrape your bases easier, quicker and do a better job.
