Portable oxygen is great for anyone who participates in mountain activities such as skiing, boarding, climbing and hiking. Also works great for distance biking, runners, work outs and travelers.

Today's air contains less than 21% oxygen while in previous years our breathable air once contained more than 50% oxygen. Big city living or high altitude also decrease your oxygen intake. Our bodies thrive on three things; oxygen, water and food. However, oxygen is the catalyst for the other two. We need oxygen for the most obvious reason, to live!

Does high altitude affect you? When you travel to the mountains, do you suffer from headaches, fatigue, shortness of breath, nausea, a poor appetite or insomnia? You're not alone. Many people who travel to elevations above 6,000 feet are affected by the decreased amount of oxygen and can cause altitude sickness or AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness). Within the first few days, you can experience headaches, fatigue, shortness of breath, nausea, poor appetite and insomnia. Altitude sickness can look and feel like the "flu". In more severe cases, thinking and judgment may become impaired. About 1% develop more serious conditions and can become fatal.

Help prevent altitude sickness! There are things you can do to help prevent altitude sickness.

#1) Gradually increase in altitude.

Of course, many times this isn't possible because we drive or fly into the mountains.

#2) Reduce strenuous activities for the first few days. Give your body a chance to adjust.
For many of us, this is hard to do because we start skiing or snowboarding right away. That's what we're there for!

#3) Avoid alcohol, sleeping pills, narcotics and the hot tub.
They may decrease ventilation, intensify hypoxemia and make symptoms worse.

#4) Taking prescription medication.
Diamox has been shown to speed up the acclimatization process.

#5) Taking oxygen will relieve symptoms.
Once symptoms occur, they usually decrease over a period of several days. However, if symptoms do not improve, they can be relieved with the administration of oxygen or descent to a lower altitude. When in doubt, see a physician.

Please keep in mind that our oxygen products are not intended for medical use.
